Student Scholarships Dear CASE District VI Colleague: Students interested in promoting higher education through careers in alumni relations, development, publications, public relations, and government relations should apply for a student scholarship to attend the CASE District VI Conference January 11-13 in Denver. With the theme, Elevation, the conference will be held at the Denver Downtown Marriot. Professionals in CASE VI have long been pioneers in the advancement field. Students will learn about the many innovative initiatives taking place in the profession while interacting with professionals in an enlightening and thought-provoking experience. The CASE District VI Student Scholarship Program helps prepare undergraduate and graduate students for careers in institutional advancement. If you know an outstanding student interested in one of the above areas, nominate him/her to be a student delegate at the 2004 CASE District VI Conference, January 11-13, 2004. Previous recipients are not eligible to receive the scholarship. Delegates participate in the full range of workshops and professional enrichment sessions. In addition, they discuss current advancement issues with professionals from the district. Three full-time students from the District VI region will receive scholarships. Scholarships cover conference registration fees which includes some meals. In addition, there is a $400 travel/housing stipend for those scholarship recipients who are outside of the conferences host city. Winners who reside or work in the host city are not eligible for the stipend, although their scholarship will still cover all conference fees and meals. Although not required, sponsors of the scholarship recipients are strongly encouraged to attend the conference. Applicants should send the attached form and a one-page typed statement to the chair of the District VI Student Scholarship Committee. The statement should explain the students career objectives, related studies, employment, campus or civic activities and other experiences related to college or university advancement (including participation in a Student Alumni Association or Student Foundation). Before submitting the application, return it to a CASE member for endorsement. Each CASE professional area (alumni, development, public relations) at each institution may nominate only one candidate for this scholarship. The scholarship chair should receive the application and statement no later than October 24, 2003. Late applications will not be accepted. The Student Scholarship Selection Committee will notify all applicants in writing of their scholarship status by December 1, 2002. Interested students should submit the application and return it by October 24 to Steve Reed, CASE VI Student Scholarship Chair, Cottey College, 1000 W. Austin, Nevada, MO 64772 Good luck!
