Greetings CASE Colleagues:

It is time to nominate an outstanding CASE colleague, volunteer, resource partner, or Chief Executive Leader for recognition by District VI. This year, we will be selecting recipients for the District’s service awards and the Chief Executive Leadership Award. There are separate and different processes for each which are detailed below. Nominations must be from a District VI member institution. The deadline date for all nominations is the same. Please submit the requested materials electronically by Friday, October 7, 2005 to jwright@kuendowment.org. No late submissions will be accepted. Recipients will be selected by the Recognition Committee this fall and recognized at the CASE VI Conference in St. Louis, Missouri, January 22-24, 2006.

SERVICE AWARDS

To nominate for any of the following Service Awards, you need to provide a letter of no more than two pages detailing why your candidate should be selected. This should include specifics about the service the individual or organization has provided to CASE District VI. Be sure to include the specific award for which you are nominating. You may include letters of recommendation. No videos or brochures please. A description of each award follows:

Distinguished Service Award

Current CASE VI officers and board members are excluded from consideration.

Virginia Carter Smith Recognition Award

They must have at least 15 years of successful participation in institutional advancement and be employed by a CASE VI member institution at the time of retirement. The award is presented at the conference nearest the recipient's retirement date.

Volunteer of the Year Award

The award reflects voluntary service to education only, and diversity of service to education and the CASE VI member institution is important. Recipients should not be employed by the institution making the nomination. Former members of CASE and the advancement profession are not eligible.

Educational Partner Award
Pays tribute to those from business and industry who have been active in furthering the success of CASE VI and its members. Nominees should have an exemplary record of professional service to CASE VI members, have been a paid exhibitor for at least five CASE VI conferences, and have a record that is supportive of the CASE mission, principles of professionalism, and high ethical standards.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE LEADER AWARD

  • A letter or statement that outlines the nominee’s qualifications
  • A nominee’s vitae
  • Three letters of support for the nomination from additional individuals.

The following criteria should be kept in mind when nominating an individual for the Chief Executive Leadership Award. To be eligible, nominees must head an academic institution (executive directors and/or presidents of institutionally related foundations and/or associations are not eligible for this award).

Nominees should demonstrate the ability to:

  • Create a vision and inspire others;
  • Establish a positive image for the institution;
  • Increase the institution’s stature in the community;
  • Encourage innovation and risk-taking among employees;
  • Actively support advancement
