Call for Service Award Nominations

(Previous Award Recipients)

In order to give our colleagues more lead time, we are excited to announce the opportunity to recognize achievement in and service to our profession. We invite you to nominate an outstanding CASE colleague, volunteer, or Chief Executive Leader for recognition by District VI. Please note the different processes for each, detailed below. Nominations must be from a District VI member institution. The deadline date is the same for all nominations.

Please submit the requested materials electronically by Thursday, September 30, 2010, to jwright@kuendowment.org. No late submissions will be accepted. Recipients will be selected by the Recognition Committee this fall and recognized at the CASE VI Conference in Kansas City, January 9-11, 2011.

SERVICE AWARDS

To nominate for the following Service Awards, please provide:

  • A nominating letter of no more than two pages with information about why your candidate should be selected for the specific award
  • Up to three letters of recommendation
  • Do NOT send any brochures or videos
  • Send the nomination letter and recommendations letters to JWright@KUEndowment.org by September 30 (No late submissions will be accepted)

A description of each award follows.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

This award honors persons with exemplary professional service to CASE and District VI, including active involvement in the advancement profession for a minimum of eight years. Including:

  • Professional employment with CASE VI member institutions for a least eight year
  • Regular attendance at CASE VI meetings
  • Volunteer service to CASE sponsored conferences, programs, and activities
  • Outstanding achievement in the total spectrum of endeavors represented by CASE's objectives for the advancement profession

Current CASE VI officers and board members are excluded from consideration.

VIRGINIA CARTER SMITH RECOGNITION AWARD

This award is presented to senior advancement professionals with exceptional service to CASE who are ending or will be ending their careers within the last or next 12 months.  They must have at least 15 years of successful participation in institutional advancement and be employed by a CASE VI member institution at the time of retirement. The award is presented at the conference nearest the recipient's retirement date.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD

This award is presented to persons outside CASE who have given time, talent, and/or gifts to further the success of education through a CASE VI member institution. The award reflects:

  • Voluntary service to education only
  • A diversity of service to education and the CASE VI member institution

This is a wonderful way to steward your institution’s most valued volunteers and donors. Recipients should not be employed by the institution making the nomination.  Former members of CASE and the advancement profession are not eligible.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE LEADER AWARD

CASE District VI is pleased to offer this prestigious award to recognize outstanding leadership and service in support of education. We invite nominations of chief executives whose contributions to their campuses and communities deserve exceptional notice and praise.

The CASE District VI Chief Executive Leader Award is presented annually to an outstanding president, chancellor, head master or system head of a District VI CASE member institution. Executive directors and/or presidents of institutionally related foundations and/or associations are not eligible for this award.

Nomination materials should include:

  • A letter or statement of no more than two pages that outlines the nominee’s qualifications (including years of service to the institution)
  • The nominee’s vitae
  • Three letters of support for the nomination

Nominees should demonstrate the ability to:

  • Create a vision and inspire others
  • Establish a positive image for the institution
  • Increase the institution’s stature in the community
  • Encourage innovation and risk-taking among employees
  • Actively support advancement
